Happy Weekend + Jane Roarty

Jane Roart
Jane Roart

Aren't these photos styled by Jane Roarty exquisite? Have a wonderful weekend my dears, I will probably by sipping a fruity drink while chilling on a beautiful white sandy beach in Florida, ah yes... I am excited to relax.

I'll be in the Orlando area, any recommendations of places to go? Has anyone been to the Ft. Meyers area?

  4. I went to highschool in Ft. Myers. It's about a 3 hour drive from Orlando (give or take). Being a native Floridian, I'll give you my advice- Ft. Myers- uggh. But just south of it, in Naples, you'll find a beautiful city- very upscale with lots of galleries and shops and things like that. Ft. Myers didn't have much to offer when our family was living there (1993-2008)and I would avoid it unless you have a particular interest in the area. If you are in Orlando, though and are thinking of driving, I'd definitely check out St. Augustine, which is north- about a 2 hour drive. You can take the coastline up along the Atlantic. It's the oldest continuously-inhabited city in North America and reeeally charming! It's amazing to take a walking tour around. There's also Mt. Dora close to Orlando, and the "witch-town" of Cassadaga, Florida. Both worth a day of walking around and checking out. I'd suggest any of those over a trip to S. Florida.

Maybe you didn't want this much info!! =) Enjoy Florida!

  6. No problem, Rachel. If you want to see some pics from Cassadaga and Mt. Dora/Lake Helen, here are some:

    And St. Augustine- http://ginaanddoug.blogspot.com/2009/01/st-augustine-update-from-florida.html

Check out Flagler College while you are in St. Augustine and make sure to park your car somewhere so you can walk down the narrow alleys!

  7. I live in Orlando-- so many fun things to do!

Check out Lake Eola in the middle of downtown Orlando, it's absolutely gorgeous to walk around with an ice cream cone. There's also a farmer's market there on Sunday mornings.

Winter Park, a town just 5 minutes north of downtown, is so charming. Shopping on Park Ave. is a must, as well as a stroll around Rollins College (the oldest college in Florida, beautiful old Spanish architecture) just across the street from Park Ave.

The Enzian is a dinner movie theater that plays independent films in a big old house surrounded by live oak trees.

Hope that helps! You'll love it all! :) (as long as you get away from the International Drive/Disney area)
