As soon as I saw the title of this post in my blog reader, I immediately thought of this song- hands down one of the most romantic songs ever!
It's so hard to narrow it down to a single favourite love song of all time, but since my "I love banjos" playlist has gone into heavy rotation lately, I feel compelled to give a shout out to Great Lake Swimmers' "Your Rocky Spine"
That's a really tough question, but my favorite Ben Harper love song is Forever.
"Like a handless clock with numbers And infinite of time No not the forever found Only in the mind Forever always seems to be around when things begin but forever never seems to be around when things end So give me your forever Please your forever Not a day less will do From you"
It's not that much of an uplifting tune but I love the poem and just puts me in this relationship-thinking mood. Lover You Should Have Come Over. I mostly listen to Jamie Cullum's 'though not to say anything against the original version.
What a tough question (because so many songs are about love!)
I would have to agree with RZY that "Your Rocky Spine" is a really great love song, but I also think that "I Found a Reason" (Cat Power version) is stunning, though a bit melancholy.
"Green Eyes" by Coldplay is probably my ultimate favourite though....
Happy Valentine's Day - for whatever it means to you :)
Had to comment... as this IS my favorite song of all time. It was the song my husband & I danced to as our first dance at our wedding.. almost 10 years ago. Ahhhhh..... :) That made my day.
Of course this may change tomorrow but I fell in love with the lyrics of "When Did You Leave Heaven". And the only person who sings it right, for me, is Nancy Wilson.
