This is the tree in the book "The Little Prince" by Antoine de St Exupery. Hope I got the name of the author right.
There's an anecdote to the Baobab tree. It used to be really big and reach into the heavens, where it would fuss with the Gods. The Gods got so tired of it, that they uprooted it and planted it back upside down. That's why it now looks like it's got its roots in the air.
