The Diving Bell and the Butterfly
Thanks to your French film recommendations from this post, I watched "The Diving Bell and the Butterfly." This incredibly moving film is based on the true life story of journalist 'Jean-Dominique Bauby', who suffered a stroke leaving his whole body paralyzed except for one eye, called locked-in syndrome.
Through mere blinking he communicated, and shared aspects of his inner imagination and memory for his last memoir. Not only is the cinematography exquisite, but this non light-hearted film made me think deeply. It caused me to ponder upon all of the things I am increasingly grateful for, especially the little things.

I saw this a few weeks ago and had the same thoughts. It is a gorgeous, gorgeous film.
It is an exquisitely beautiful film. So so heavy. It definitely makes you grateful for all the things you have - especially a working body.
This film was stunning. One everyone should see. But get ready, as mentioned it is a heavy film to see. But it leaves you with a feeling of being blessed by your life. Beautiful film, go rent it!
i'm so glad you saw this beautiful and powerful film. i feel like i should watch it every year around the time of my birthday to remind myself of how fortunate i really am.
I am dying to see this movie, but I just have to find the right time. I love watching heavy movies like this by myself, but I have to be in the right mood!
