Pom-Pom Decor

I picked up a copy of the Marie Claire Idees magazine while in France (one of my favs) and wish I would have thumbed through it earlier. This idea they share of making pom-poms to put on a wreath, a package, or make a holiday chain out of them, is such a great one. Anyone made them before? Are they time consuming, or tricky?

I really love the garland and the wreath!
Thanks for sharing Rachel.

Although I can probably count the number of comments I have left here on two hands..I have really enjoyed following your blog throughout 2008. It has been an inspiring and creative adventure.
Can't wait to get back into the new year!
Merry Christmas :)

Danielle Thompson does a lot with pom poms for the holidays. Here's her blog:

I love this! The pompoms are big, fat & lush... I used pompoms on my Xmas wrapping, but they came out more spikey and koosh-ball-esque...

ooooh ... i love these!

pom poms are super fun and easy to make - it's a perfect sit-on-the-couch-and-watch-a-favorite-movie sort of activity. this is a great tutorial:

Pompoms are not hard to do. The only downside with pompoms is that they do use A LOT of wool so maybe don't use the most expensive kind :)

The other day I made some billy buttons with them:

They are easy. I made a wreath an age ago, when I was first married and I remember it being quite fun.

I was so excited to see this, I had to comment - even if I am weeks late to the party on this one. I decorated our tree strictly with pom poms this year (well, pom poms and lights). We have a one year old and I didn't want to have to stress about her tearing down or eating decorations. I have to say the pom poms looked beautiful and they were relatively easy to make. After making the first few by hand, I invested $6 in a pom pom maker. I was churning them out like mad after that. I highly recommend it.
