A Child's Garden of Verses
There are more versions than I can count of the book, "A Child's Garden of Verses" by Robert Louis Stevenson, but I am drawn to the one illustrated by the lovely Alice and Martin Provensen. I picked my 1950s copy a few years ago at an antique store, but if you do a little web search it is pretty easy to find. It looks like they even did a reprint in 1999. Aren't the illustrations fun?

This is a nice one. Mine was not so colorful.
So sweet. This totally takes me back to my childhood. This was my grandma's absolute favorite book. Reminds me of her.
love it!
What a gorgeous version! I am going to go find one before your other readers nab them all....
ooh, i love alice and martin provenson. i found a book of fables they illustrated at a used book shop and treasure it dearly.
Yes, it reminds me of our "This is Paris" book.
These illustrations are so much nicer than the original ones in my version. Thanks for sharing.
Hm, I have a collection of folk songs and hymns hard bound for piano playing at my grandmother's house that I wonder if it is illustrated by the same people. The pictures look very familiar. Thank you for sharing this lovely edition of Garden of Verses!
My sister has this book! She has a new addition with different illustrations. Your copy is great. =D
