I recently found a vintage German copy of a collection of stories by the Brothers Grimm, it is beautifully illustrated and my favorite book purchase of the year so far.
What a beautiful discovery! Something so wonderful about European picture books - they are allowed to go a lot darker and complex sometimes. Kids can appreciate that too! Lovely book.
oh wow! I love this!
Gorgeous copy, certainly a favorite book in our home!
Love the cover! I can't seem to get enough of vintage children's book lately.
So refreshing, lovely blog too!Thank You DeniseHull,MassachusettsPS Forgot to mention an elderly shabby artisan, one of the first is having an estate sale her roses are heavenly.I took pics for her and posted on my blog with her contact information.
love the blue baby shower. would even work for a little girl I think. reclaim the blue!! the illustrations are a treasure.
what a find! nice ;)
Wow--what a lucky find! Beautiful binding, beautiful illustrations; you can tell that much love and care went into this edition.
That's an impressively good book find. The illustrations are just saturated with gorgeous color. This is my first comment, by the way. Lovely, lovely blog. :-)
Do you mind sharing the publishing information for this book? I confess I've been quite obsessed with it since I saw it, thanks so much for sharing! It's a beautiful book for great subject matter!
Wow, that is beautiful. I am so jealous. Is it a complete collection or just a selection of stories? I have a complete collection Brothers Grimm but it has no pictures. You must be really lucky!
wow, how funny to see this book on your blog! it's actually from east germany, the former gdr, and i had it in my childhood and always looved the illustrations by helmut klemke. then last christmas, i found out that they made a reprint (without the nice fabric cover), and was hesitating if to buy it or not. i didnt but wasnt sad for long as my parents gave it to me for christmas! such an amazing book! i'm happy it has admirers all over the world :)
I really appreciate your thoughts and ideas, thanks for reading!
