Valet Parking Tags by guest: Brooke Reynolds

I have always tried to pay attention to the ground beneath my feet, but
especially so after I moved to New York. There are such nice surprises
waiting, if you just keep your eyes open. I started noticing these
lovely bits of paper all over the city. I'm a sucker for red type, so
that is probably what first caught my eye. Originally I thought they
were dry cleaning tags, but after some research I think they might be
valet parking stubs. Whatever they are, I adore them and wish I could
collect more before they become a relic of the past, replaced by a
generic receipt. I think their days are sadly numbered.

I am pretty sure they are parking stubs from the parking lots around the city. I grew up doing commercials and driving into the city from NJ for interviews. My mom used to park at those lots. It never occurred to me that they would not be around anymore. Thanks for the trip down memory lane. I live so far away from that world now, but it is nice to remember those little things.

I'm inspired - with a husband that always brings home the drycleaning, maybe I can convince him to save the papers bits for me.

Besos!

brooke, just when i thought you couldn't get any cooler... you tell me you collect bits from the street. i love what you've gathered so far.

i also love the metro north receipts that say 'this is not a ticket' in red text on the back.
