Arthur Elgort

I am loving the photography of Arthur Elgort to pieces ... and can't wait to head out to have a slice of Midwestern Americana in a few days and maybe if we're lucky a little Indiana peach crumble! Don't these images conjure up thoughts of the idyllic life?

I've loved your recommendations for the Chicago area, thank you. How many of you have been to the corn filled plains of Northern Indiana? Do you have recommendations of favorite places to go near the South Bend area or nearby proximity? I would be thrilled to hear about them.

there are supposed to be some decent antique stores in the area - maybe you could google some of the smaller towns to see what you can find.

I forgot to add that I think you'll be close to MI and there are VERY cute beach towns - new buffalo, union pier, harbet....you can get the best burger at redemaks in new buffalo, mi - if you eat meat!

I am endlessly inspired by the first set of photos! I love the romantically layered plaid-and exquisite layering in general. I wish I could dress this way everyday!

I second the Shipshewana recommendation, go there all the time when visiting the in-laws. There's also some really good antique malls in Angola, found quite a few good deals there.

Thanks Anonymous, I realize that they were taken in Alabama, I just thought they gave a sense of the simple country life. Thanks for pointing that out though...

And if you make it to Shipshewana, you have to eat at Essenhaus - it's Amish-style coooking (noodles, pie, etc.) and delish!

Probably too obvious, but Notre Dame's campus is just so beautiful, especially in the fall. Take a walk around the lakes and whether you pray or not, the Grotto is gorgeous and inspiring at night.
