From our garden....

A lovely sunflower grew 6 feet higher than we thought. It is amazing what happens when you mix up seeds, we've had some fun discoveries. Have you ever had surprise vegetables or flowers pop up? Or plants cross with others?

I often find peanuts hidden in the potted plants on my balcony. The bluejays like to stash them so they can eat them later. I've also had sunflower seedlings sprout up when I hadn't planted them, because of the jays. It makes me happy to think my deck garden plays a part in their lives!

I planted a whole bunch of what I thought were cabbage seeds, but they turned out to be cauliflower!

I love sunflowers because they grow so tall and towards the sunshine (and have seeds that taste delicious when roasted & salted!)
