Vandercook Centennial by guest Eva Jorgensen

Vandercook Centennial

This year marks the 100 year anniversary of the Vandercook printing press. Vandercook presses are sometimes called the “Cadillacs” of letterpress. These are beautiful, lumbering machines, and are highly sought after. They haven’t been manufactured in decades, and there are only about 2,000 that remain in operating condition.

Paul Moxon, moderator of the Vanderblog and Vandercook expert, organized a print exchange in honor of the Vandie’s 100th birthday. About 100 pressmen and women participated. I just got my print bundle in the mail last week, and it was just like Christmas!

Featured prints are by (from top to bottom and left to right): Shelley Barandes at Albertine Press, Rachael Hetzel of Pistachio Press, Tiselle, Kirk and Eva Jorgensen of Sycamore Street Press, Robert Rowe of Gold Quoin Press, Paul Moxon of Fameorshame Press , Colin Frazer of The Press at Colorado College, and the Otis Laboratory Press.

These are great images. I just can't seem to find a larger version of the woman at the letterpress. The one on the right of this http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_k4x5a3c1b_M/Su92mu0KltI/AAAAAAAAQUI/JAIpgstmuis/s1600-h/%2317.Eva.BlackEiffel.Vandie.2.jpg

I would love a link to this image, because I am dying to see the detail. Thank you!

Alanna, I don't know where any larger images of that print are, but it's by the stationery and design studio called Tiselle. (link is at the bottom of this blog entry). They have a lot of great stuff on their site.
