My Stamp Collection

Black Eiffel Stamp Collection

Have I've mentioned before that I love to collect stamps? I enjoy that each stamp is like a tiny poster and full of beautiful tidbits of art and design, and as a bonus they do not take up much room. In my collection, I don't necessarily go for the mint ones or special editions, I select ones that I'm aesthetically drawn to. Here are some lovely stamps I picked up while in France at a few different flea markets. Maybe I will share with you some more, if you are up for it? I am also starting a Flickr set here. Who else collects stamps?

I do and have the same collecting "criteria" that you do. These are lovely and your post makes my hobby feel a bit less like the guilty pleasure that it is....

Oh I just pulled my collection out of storage for the first time in years. I decided to frame a few of mine. I posted a blog about it last week. Love the details in and the lovely little tidbits in each stamp! -kb

Love them. I collected as a child but stopped years ago. Maybe I'll have to start up again.

I love stamps! I used to work in the subscription department of a national magazine and we had lots of international subscribers who would mail in their renewals and they would be covered in fun international stamps. I used to collect them.

This is a really lovely collection - my brother likes to collect stamps, and I've actually been trying to hunt down some cool ones here in NYC.

Oh! My father always wanted me to collect stamps (he's a collector) as a child. And I hated it.

Now I work for him and his stamp album company - he makes pages for all stamps of the world. So if you wanted years 1954-1985 of your French stamps, but only those stamps that had boats in the scene, then you call my father :)

And as I'm in charge of making the layout of each page, I'm studying all stamps, every single day (currently we're putting each stamp's image in every box of every page, so it's been lots of fun to see allll the stamps). It's lovely! And now I'm so smitten that I am starting a collection. I'm doing Iceland first. So fun!

I've never thought about collecting stamps, however these are really beautiful. I have saved a lot of cards, letters etc... that still bare their stamps, and they are rather lovely.

I had one as a child. This post is inspiring me to pull it out and dust it off.

What a treat to see this post! I have the first stamp (of the peacock) in my own collection. You've reminded me that I've been meaning to scan it and print an enlargement for my wall as it's such a lovely design.

I kind-of collect stamps. During my travels I love to send postcards, so I always pick up a couple extra stamps and stick them on the inside cover of my current journal. They end up telling a little story about where I have been while I was writing in that particular journal, and they make a lovely collage!!
