Listening to...

Do any of you have things that you do before you go on a vacation? I usually always do two things... I have to clean my house, and spend some time (probably too much) filling up my iPod with music and audio books. Here are a just a few that I bought and put on for the road trip I am going on this week. I've never listened to any of the albums in their entirety, so I am excited to give them a through listen.

1: Bombay Bicycle Club - Flaws
2: The Whitest Boy Alive - Dreams
3: Water for Elephants - This happens to be audiobook of the month so it is only $5.95 on itunes.
4: Florence + the Machine - Lungs
5: The Alchemist

6: Adele - 21

(#3 and #6 were actually previous books my bookclub read that I didn't get to, so I am excited to listen to them, thanks Bonnie for the recommendations and reminder.)

What music are you excited about listening to? Are you an audiobook fan or reading anything that you can't put down? Hit up the comments...

I absolutely adore the Florence and the Machine CD and Water for Elephants was a great book. I didn't love the Alchemist though - it was just ok. I've never done the audiobook thing but have been considering it lately in an effort to save my eyes the extra strain! (too much time on a computer all day already) I'm planning on downloading some new music off Amazon tonight myself. And the best book I recently read was The Breach by Patrick Lee - couldn't put it down and now need to get the sequel!

When going on trips I usually bring anything by Christopher Moore or Christopher Buckley. They a fun, witty books that I can quickly page through. Oh, and if you are into Greek Mythology definitely check out "Gods Behaving Badly" by Marie Phillips

I loved reading "Water for Elephants." Hope you like it too!

The Alchemist is one of my favorite books of all time. I really love Paulo Coelho. I also love Veronika Decides to Die, and The Zahir by him.

I'm currently reading Into the Wild and Eating Animals.

Oh and that Adele cd is perfection!

I clean my house before I go on vacation, too, even though nobody is going to be at home! I guess it's just nice to come home to a clean house. Good pick on Florence-- she's one of my faves!

I am training for my first half marathon and I listen to audio books to help pass the time. The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn carried me through a lot of long runs. I am now listening to Kidnapped. These classic books have been great reminders of things I loved as a child.

I highly recommend Devotchka's 100 Lovers and the Dodo's No Color for your road trip. Listened to as a whole or singularly, they are beautiful, amazing albums.

I looooved Water For Elephants. It was so fun to read about the circus :) Especially excited for the movie due in a week or so!

I thought I was one of the few people left that actually listened to books. (The hubs and I don't have a tv or internet at home, so we listen to a lot of books these days!)

I love listening to easy things like a John Grisham or Tom Clancy. But I just finished reading The Glass Castle (omg!) and Mennonite in a Little Black Dress (hysterical!) and I'm currently reading Bitter Is The New Black.

I hope to put my hands on Tina Fey's Bossypants soon though.

As far as music goes: I never leave home without my Pete Yorn or Blitzen Trapper (listening to Furr again this Spring.)

Have Fun!

I pretty much love every single book and cd you posted, but I must say The Alchemist is one of my favorite books ever. It has so many wonderful quotes that I still remember and use even though I read it a long time ago. I think I'm going to read it again.

Reading "Bossypants" now and seriously...I have laughed out loud in almost every paragraph. I can only imagine it's amazing on audiobook.

I loved Water for Elephants.

Water for Elephants is fabulous fun and so well-written! After I told a friend how much I loved it, he recommended A Confederacy of Dunces, which I'm currently about 2/3 of the way through and it's been so ridiculous and enjoyable. So if you end up liking Elephants, check out Dunces. I'll warn you that they're different genres though, and so far, Dunces is not nearly as heart-warming as Elephants
