5 good songs to work out to

Since we are briefly on the subject of workout gear from the last post, what about some workout music? Here are five songs I recently added into my mix of workout jams. What are you listening to? Upbeat power songs sure do wonders in motivating me and getting my heart moving and of course cool down jams are a must too -- (like Islands above). Shout 'em out, what are your favorite power or cool down songs to work out to?

I find that late 70s/early 80s punk songs are the absolute best (basically anything that came along after the infusion of reggae into british rock): stuff by the ramones, rezillos, queers, betty blowtorch, lunachicks, dead kennedys, etc. have that perfect 4/4 rhythm that backbeats your heart. The fast-driving throb kicks my butt and ups my burn on an elliptical or a run, while the steady baseline powers me through less-vigorous workouts and strength-training.

specific recs: not my place (in the 9-5 world), cretin hop, stupid f-ing vegan, i'll be the one.

My peak activity song is Drumming by Florence + The Machine. Something about the beat of that really gets my heart- and legs- pumping. I like to stick to some older songs, too like Garbage. Run Baby Run is perfect in name and beat!
