Have a great weekend!

Hello! We are still settling in and I am happy to have access to the internet again. I took this shot with my phone while driving 75 mph from UT to CA by the salt flats at the crack of dawn. I love to take moving road trip photos, you can see other trips here.

I hope you will all have a lovely weekend!

Awesome Modern Modular Farmhome

Oh the modern idyllic life, how charmingly cool is this Modular House in Connecticut? The minimalism to me is quite refreshing, especially as we are moving and going through boxes. I want to move right in and raise some chickens. Read more about how Robert Bristow and his wife Pilar Proffitt made this prefab spectacular over at the New York Times.

Spoon Fork Bacon

The site Spoon Fork Bacon is absolutely marvelous! Have you seen it? Jenny and Teri do amazing work with food styling, photography and have great recipes I want to try.

Is Handwriting Still Alive?

This art project called Ecriture Infinie (Infinite Writing) by artist Bili Bidjocka and curated Simon Njami is one of the most brilliant things I've seen in a while. Bili is compiling these massive gigantic notebooks (8 of them) full of people's handwritten words all around the world. His idea is to create a universal piece of literature that brings people together, his purpose being the process.

Any ideas to what you would jot down? I would really have to put some though into it, especially since Bili wants people to write as if it were their last words. This idea inspires me in many ways, first off I am intrigued about handwriting styles around the world in general, (it is the graphic designer in me) but also people's inner dialog and where they place their values. It also inspires me to restart a handwritten journal opposed to my computerized one.

Thoughts? When is the last time you did something handwritten? Is handwriting still alive?

The Move...

We are moving this weekend, ahh. This week has been pretty much bananas! It will be such a fast transition, I can still hardly believe it. We are landing in the El Dorado Hills / Folsom area as it will be near my husband's work. If you have any tips or suggestions about that area I would love to hear more because I've only been there once. Crossing my fingers for a smooth transition.

See you on the flip side, I have a few posts lined up next week as we get settled.

Have a lovely autumn weekend!

Fifteen / Eleven

Congrats to my blogging friend Suann from SIMPLESONG for opening Fifteen / Eleven : a curated paper goods shop. I wish I was in Virginia to check it out! If you are near Alexandria you should definitely pop in for a visit. Below is a collage Suann created showing a tiny sample of what they will be carrying, such a beautiful collection, see the detailed post here. Bravo Suann!

Sponsor Highlight : Moop

Moop's variety of beloved bags are not only impressive at first glace when it comes to their cool minimal design, but when I learned that they are handmade with care in their Pittsburgh studio by a small group of mindful people including the owner Wendy, I was amazed and delighted. I am putting some of these lovelies on my wish list for sure. The problem I am having is picking just one, they are all so gorgeous. I also really like that they have great options for men, my husband really does need a great new 'man purse' and I've got to show him these.

Which bags do you fancy?

Here are my top three favorites, but they all are awesome:

The Letter Bag $191
The Porter $91
The Messenger $187

Let's Make Some Great Art

I've been a big fan of the work of illustrator/designer Marion Deuchars for quite a while, so when I came across news of her fantastic new activity book Let's Make Some Great Art which assists kid's (or adults) to have fun with art I was jazzed. The website is brilliant too, check it out here.

Has anyone seen it in person? This is right up my daughter's alley!

Hello Northern California!

Yesterday we finally got some exciting news that we have been anticipating and I am happy to share. My husband is being transfered for his job and we are moving to the Sacramento area! It is happening really fast, and we are thrilled and looking forward to a new adventure, new city and surrounding areas to explore. You nice readers always have the best tips and suggestions, tell me what you know and love about Sacramento and surrounding areas (he most likely will work north of the city). Thank you!

I'm going to sign off for the weekend because we are flying out to check out areas. Have a great weekend!

*On a side note, my posts have been lighter than normal the last few weeks because I'm still trying to hammer out some computer issues. I guess sometimes you get in trouble for being an early adopter, Lion and those Geniuses are not necessarily on my good list right now.

Charley Harper Colors + Modern Art Memory Game

Loving the new Modern Art Memory Game and Charley Harper Colors Board Book that came in the mail from Ammo Books. You can get 35% off on their website through tomorrow by entering ENDOFSUMMER.

Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams

I'm still pinching myself for not picking up the Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams At Home Book that I flipped through over the weekend because hands down ice cream (or gelato, frozen yogurt ...) is my major weakness when it comes to sweets. Add in delicious artisanal flavors, ice cream macarons and beautiful design, I am all over it. Say hello to Ohio based Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams if you haven't already met the much loved and talked about shop yet. I love that you can order their goodies online, perfect for an ice cream tasting party don't you think?!

Winter and Summer Fruit

The lovely Claire recently came out with some fantastic new fruit prints. I especially love the winter fruit print, it is very beautiful. See the prints in her etsy here.

Twenty-Seven Names

When fashion companies get all creative with their look book it is so refreshing. I paused and smiled big when I saw Twenty-Seven Name's imaginative and modern way to showcase their lovely clothes. Genius! Check out the portraits below too. Simple but memorable, way to go Twenty-seven Names!
