180 South

180 South has been sitting in my Netflix queue for a while and I finally got the chance to sit down and watch it the other day. It was uplifting and inspiring. I even found myself pausing and jotting down a few quotes and even a book recommendation.

Lately as I have been organizing our space and reevaluating other things, these few thoughts from the film really struck a chord with me.

1 - "The hardest thing in the world is to simplify life, it is so easy to make it complex. What is important is leading an examined life."

2 - A flawed system or thought process can't continue to work, "turn around and take a 180 degree turn and take one step forward."

I love the idea of when things aren't working the way you would like, it is okay to shift, reexamine, experiment and try a new direction. Perhaps I am late to the game, but I am starting to see how much life is less about the destination and all about the journey and how you perform and adapt to change and challenges along the way.

Have you seen 180 Degrees South, what other good flicks have you seen lately?

This movie sounds amazing! I will definitely have to get my hands on it. I recently started rock climbing at a gym and hope to build up my strength and endurance, and this movie might inspire me with the mental strength aspect of climbing :)

Yes one of my favorites, I bought it for my husband for Christmas 2010 and made our entire families watch it. Truly inspiring.

Now I am truly excited to put this in my own queue.
I love what you took away from it. Those are all things I've really been thinking about a lot more lately so I can honestly say this particular post really hit home for me.
I love when people are experiencing the same thoughts and ideas as me.

Thank you friend, for providing what appears to be our next date-in-night flick. It seems like something both Ben and I would enjoy! And I feel like I haven't seen a decent independent film in sometime. Can't wait!

We just watched this movie a week ago and immediately started planning a Latin American trip afterwards. Beautifully shot, inspiring, and a great reminder that life should be a glorious adventure!

Thanks for the recommendation! I watched the Ides of March the other night - I really enjoyed it and I'm not a fan of anything politics :)

@rikshaw design: Isn't it though? I had it on repeat for, like, 2 weeks after I watched the movie.
