According to my husband, who traveled to Bavaria before we met, Schloss Neuschwannstein
(or "Castle New-Swan-Stone") is a must-see. It's the castle that the Disneyworld Castle was modeled after, and it's supposed to be in one of the most beautiful and picturesque settings in all of Germany. And don't forget to sample the Bavarian wheat beer!

How wonderful! I made a tourist tips guide to my very favorite places in Munich (where I live) and Salzburg (where I work).

They are on the top right corner of my blog. I have other German cities if you scroll down on the right too. I'm so excited you'll be heading my way.

Have a fantastic trip with safe and happy travels! I can't wait to hear what you think of Bavaria... Paris is hard not to like!

Oh my gosh! Have fun. If you are anywhere near Sulzberg, let me know and I will hook you up with the Amala staff.

Paris:

Cafe Beaubourg (frommage blanc!)
Chez Omar (in the marai) - best moroccan food, ever
Charlotte: quirky little place on the Ilse St. Louis

Have a fantastic time. I'm one hundred shades of green!

Shakespeares' & co. (a famous bookstore) would be a place I'd go to. And of course all markets, grocery stores and nice cafés. I just returned home from Strasbourg which is delightful so if you decide to head to Frankfurt or Stuttgart, you might want to go to Strasbourg first. There are also wonderful small villages with vineyards close by. In Germany I would go to Berlin.

One of my favorite meals EVER:

Restaurant 404
69, rue des Gravilliers
Tel: 01 42 74 57 81

A Moroccan place in the Marias. Recommended to us by a friend who lived in Paris. He said to get a later reservation (after 10:00pm). He said even with a reservation you will have to wait so go next door to their bar, called Andy Wahloo, for a drink. We loved the bar and the restaurant. Food was AMAZING. Service was incredible. They went over the whole menu for us in English without us even asking and were so friendly. Great atmosphere.

We ordered:
404 Cocktail (like a mojito but better), bottle white wine
Soupe Harira
Briouat de Poulet Safrone
Tanjine de Poulet aux Poires
Couscous aux 7 Legumes
Dessert – crepe thing with nuts and fruit with cinnamon and sugar

SO good!

Also - lunch at Hotel Costes is a must. Tres chic and tasty too.

From the photo, I see you already know about Ladurée. You should also absolutely try the macarons (or anything else) from Pierre Hermé (the rock star of all pastry chefs). It's on rue Bonaparte right by Saint Sulpice.
Another spot for sweets is Patrick Roger chocolates (on Boulevard Saint Germain, I think.--just google them). Roger won best chocolate in France, 2007 and is making me question my unwavering loyalty to Michel Cluizel.

Finally, for the nose...the Guerlain boutique on the Champs-Elysées makes Sephora (next door) look like KFC. Go upstairs and have them spray huge black ostrich feather fans with perfume and close your eyes as they fan you.

If you are coming to Munich and like to drink a coffee and shop at a very special place you should go to the "Marais" in Parkstrasse 2 in the area of the "Westend". It used to be a very traditional shop to buy socks, underwear, threads,...When the owner died some years ago three nice women took it over. They didn't change much of the interieur and still sell some of the old stock of the shop. But they added some very nice crafts and founds from the fleamarket and opened a little cafè in it as well. So it is a very, very beautiful place in my opinion!!
