Buy Local.

I saw this 3/50 project on Simple + Pretty and Housemartin and thought it was a great reminder of how we can all make a difference.

Brilliant! Thank you for passing on this nugget of knowledge. I even read this to the husband! Chains break my heart, and nip away at my soul. Mom and Pop shops are the lifeblood of any community.

Great information! Hope this will be wide spread, especially in the US. In Sweden the crisis really isn't that bad but people are so affected by the media painting everything black that they don't spend money even if they have it - and need to!

We don't have very many locally owned stores that sell useful things in my area. One can only spend so much in gift/candle stores per month... but I will certainly think about making sure this happens to some local restaurants. I get so upset every time one of my independent favourites closes... I must frequent them more often. Good plan.

That's a great idea - I think people in Orlando should really pick up on this idea. We get too wrapped up in the big chains and I've seen business that have been around for 20+ go up in smoke. It breaks my heart!

It's so true. We've been trying to do more and more of this lately. The only real difficulty is that there are so few local businesses in our area. There's something wrong with that.
