Twitter

Among the growing list of the social media Twitter is smoking hot, well it has been for a while, tweeting since '06, but lately I've seen a lot of people sidestepping off the facebook bandwagon and onto the Twitter mobile. For those unaware, it is kind of like text messaging to the masses (read about it here) How many of you use Twitter? I've been tweeting for a little bit but am still trying to get the hang of it. Follow me here.

Some people were born to tweet, others including myself may still be a little confused about it all, but for the first time this week, I found it enjoyable to update, read other people's tweets, and quickly converse tidbits about various topics.

What are your thoughts about twitter? What do you tweet about? Who is one of your favorite people to follow?

Love your site & I also love Twitter! I've been on there for awhile, too. The people I enjoy following the most tweet funny/interesting/insightful stuff, and those are the kind of tweets I like to put into the twitterverse as well! I star my fave tweets by others, so if it's easy to check those out in my Favorites!

I'm @HouseofJules.

i don't understand twitter. I personally don't know why anyone other than those i know would be interested in the little happenings in my life, or my thoughts on different things. i hardly ever update my facebook status for that very reason haha. but i guess it works well for businesses and companies who want to talk directly to their customers (and get free advertising). so i understand it from that perspective :)

I think you hit the nail on the head when you said that it's like texting to the masses - or at least that's how I explain it to my husband. And although I still haven't completely figured out how best to use twitter, I love it just because it helps me keep in touch every day with people that I've met through the blog world - but it's a bigger conversation that a bunch of people can share together, rather than just being between two people. So, I'm not sure I've mastered the art of twittering, but I love being on twitter!

Hi I joined twitter a few weeks ago. I am a much bigger fan of facebook personally. I find Twitter at this point to be a whole bunch of people advertising themselves. I promote my business on there as well but I also try and put in personal things about myself, fabulous food, blogs I like, etc. I don't find a lot of back and forth at this point and I don't really have enough time to be on there all day to follow any conversations anyway.. Maybe I will catch on some day. I am going to follow you tho!

I just started Twitter this week, and I love it! There so many cool things I read about that don't fit into the scope of my blogs (or don't merit a full blog post) and Twitter's the perfect place for those. I also don't find it as overwhelming as Facebook.

@Alison: I totally understand, but what about linking to recipes, articles, movies or artists? Twitter doesn't have to be about self-promotion or writing your opinions about things--you can just use it to share stuff you love.

Totally agree with Alison. In my opinion it seems Twitter is Facebook Status Bar on steroids. I never take the time to update my FB status. Glad it's so hip for some people.

I enjoy Twitter-ing with real people about real topics, with the occasional links to something fabulous. The problem for me is when every post becomes a link to something. Since I subscribe to enough RSS feeds to choke 3 horses, I feel like I have to choose between my RSS reader and Twitter.

I love twittering. I don't really care who reads it (I have a whopping 13 followers, and only two followers for my blog). It's just fun for me to announce what I'm currently loving or dreaming about. I love follwing joywilliams.

Honestly, I think Twitter shares some of the blame of creating a society that has little to no grawsp on the English language and has trouble paying attention to anything for more than thirty seconds. I avoid it at all costs.

I'm not sure I get twitter. I do it every so often but mostly like to read other peoples tweets. I especially like Natalie Hill (Mormon in Manhattan) 'cause she says funny stuff.

I don't really "get" Twitter. There just doesn't seem to be any logical organization to all the tweets, and I find it really hard to follow the conversation, such as it is. I'm also not sure what it offers that Facebook doesn't. Right now, I vastly prefer FB.

I just can't get into the Twitter trend, and apparently a lot of other people can't as well. The retention rate is apparently very low... People try it out and then don't go back. I don't like to consider myself a quitter but I'm part of that statistic!

I was really on the fence about Twitter until a few weeks ago; decided to do it as kind of an addendum to my blog (real time updates on the sidebar) and have been surprised at how much I enjoy the 'virtual water cooler' aspect of it. I have totally neglected facebook this past week - seems much more cumbersome and boring.

I love your Twitters - your life seems similar to mine in the few days I've followed your updates!

I just don't get it. Maybe that's just because I don't do it. It seems like a waste of time, and I seem to find plenty of other ways to waste my time, I don't think I need another. My sister and I talked about it and we decided "sisters don't allow sisters to tweet - just so no". Just a little joke, but maybe not.

I started using twitter when it was pretty much unknown and then I stopped. I've only started using it again recently to update the feed that shows on my blog. It's a nice site, but some people tweet so much that you end up having pages of tweets to read...

I still have not figured out the Twitter thing. I don't feel like I have compelling updates:) But I like following and seeing others!

i haven't explored twitter just yet, although i was recently at a digital marketing conference that certainly recommended that twitter is a valuable tool in getting your message out there ... so i may investigate. facebook gives me the heebie geebies, but i understand there are ways to use these platforms without too much of the personal blather ... hmmm.
just my thoughts on t & f ... but i do know that i join the many who love your blog!
thanks for your inspiration ~

I don't use twitter and I don't read anyone's tweets. I barely have time checking Facebook, my emails, my work and blogging!

Have recently discovered your curiously creative blog and it's fabulous! ShopCurious is a newcomer to Twitter, so if you have any hot tips for beginners, please do pass them on - twit twoo x

I use twitter..and my updates show up in my blog's margin. I was following anyone that I found out was on twitter, pretty much, but recently pared down to just the updates I want to read.

since I was a fan of Danny Gokey on American Idol (and he's from around here)... I follow @dannygokey and his older brother @charlesgokey

For humor, I follow @thebloggess

For decor, I follow @decor8

And I'm @sunnygirlsf
