Word of Wisdom Living : A 52 Week Plan

My intention is to not go all cheesy on you, but I am a firm believer that when you make a goal or put good energy towards something, it will boomerang back to you in many ways. Don't get me started on how I like to put energy into finding close parking spots which works pretty much everytime-- it cracks my husband up. Let's just say I'm an optimist.

Case in point, as I am studying and observing 'healthy living' this month (and the rest of my life) I received an email from the lovely Brooke about her father's new blog Word of Wisdom Living which is a study of all things healthy and I am an instant fan. I've been searching for something out there exactly like this and voilĂ  ! Not only is it laid out beautifully, but the topics so far are very interesting and informative. I am especially drawn to the post about a healthy breakfast compote, which I look forward to trying. Also as my husband's main health resolution for the year is to not eat french fries or deep fat fried foods I can't wait to show him the history behind hydrogenated trans fat which is Healthy Change #2. Have a peek.

The blog "will offer 52 Healthy Changes—one for each week of 2011—that can transform your diet, as well as your health!" How exciting.

Have you found a healthy or nutritional blog or website that you enjoy? Please share!

I love healthmonth.com for tracking my health goals and making a game/building a community from it. (I mean, I loved it at first because my friend made it, but then it turned out to be really useful.)

There is no particular website I follow, but I have made some radical changes on food, bodycare and household products some years ago... All along my path I have had some great readings and found interesting (or fightening) research...
I can advise one book which is quite well know: the Omnivore's dilemna. and there is also the movie "Food Inc"... Please apologise if I am not sharing anything new...
Thanks for sharing your experience!

What a fantastic blog! The breakfast compost sounds like some work, but pretty easy once you get it down. I'm excited to try it!

Rachel, thanks for noting this new health website with its 52 week plan.

A book your French fry-eating guy might enjoy is either Judith Shaw's "Trans Fats: The Hidden Killers . . ." (the title says it all) or for a more thoughtful read, Mary Enig's "Know Your Fats". Mary is a real heroine in the trans fats battle, fighting mostly by herself in the beginning. A true warrior.

Note both these authors are women. The most passionate and committed fighters against trans fats have been women (not to overlook the contribution of Mann and Kummerow).

Thanks for sharing. Will definitely check out the site. Due to a new medication, I gained 30 pounds over the last five months that I hope to shed in 2011. It looks like this new site can provide good information and inspiration.

i cracked up reading the first half of this post. my mom will always say about ten minutes before arriving to any destination, "ok, now visualize a parking spot, just visualize and it will be there." too funny!

wonderful link!

my goal for 2011 is to buy as little processed and excessively packaged foods as possible and eat a healthful, minimally processed diet that incorporates lots of whole foods.

i am currently trying out mark bittman's 'how to cook everything vegetarian' to teach myself how to prepare more vegetarian meals. i now buy my all my beans and lentils in bulk and do it myself. it is surprisingly fast and easy.

and a positive attitude has been proven to be a key factor in good health. cheers!

I just happened upon that Word of Wisdom blog and loved it because it completely echos everything I believe. I've made some huge changes in my family's life over the past year and nutrition/natural living has become quite a passion. I've started a blog if you'd like to visit: kamisniche.blogspot.com. Another great blog (the one that inspired me to change) is goodlookingcook.blogspot.com.

Thanks for posting about this!

thanks for sharing this site, I love it!

And I get you about close parking spots, for me, it's seats on the crowded subway on my morning commute. I dont' mind standing in the evening, but in the morning, I just want to get a seat and relax before my day starts. I consider it my daily blessing! It always works out.
