Hope you are having a great Thursday!

I'm playing a little catch up around here working on some projects. Yesterday our darling V turned 5! I can't believe it.

The shot above is one I took with my phone from the movie, The Red Balloon* that V picked to watch the other day, it is one of our favorites.

Lately we are so slammed and intrigued in other things, that we rarely watch tv or movies. When we do have a movie night, I like to share and watch the good stuff with our girls. I thought I would ask you readers, what is your favorite children's film? I am always looking for really great ones we've never seen.

I remember loving the Borrowers as a kid - I saw the movie and then read all the books. I definitely kept my eyes open for signs of little people living in my floorboards after that!

I also thought Matilda and Harriet the Spy were great.

You should definitely see the Hayao Miyazaki movies if you haven't already: My Neighbor Totoro
Kiki's Delivery Service, Howl's Moving Castle, Ponyo
.

My girls love love love Ponyo and My Neighbor Totoro, made by Studio Ghibli. I just saw that they have made a version of The Borrowers called The Secret World of Arrietty, to be released February 17th. I can't wait!

"Howl's Moving Castle" is pretty great (the book - like all of Jones' novels - is even better), "Peter Pan" from 2003 is another that I love, and I was surprised by how wonderful and sweet "How To Train Your Dragon" was. Also, older Disney animations like "Robin Hood" and "The Sword in the Stone" never get old; they have a great sense of humor.

My kids love Nanny McPhee Returns (they think it's better than the first-I agree!).

we loved the wizard of oz and willy wonka when my sister and I were kids...I still have a way to go before we can watch a movie with our girl so I'd love to hear suggestions too!

When I was a little girl, I loved to watch movie musicals like My Fair Lady, Gigi, Singing in the Rain and The Sound of Music. There's something about childhood that makes singing outbursts so right.
