vertical strips

Wallpaper has definitely been the comeback kid as of late. I've liked this entryway since I saw it in H&G, but I think the bike helps contribute to the look. Take the bike away, I just don't know? Thanks to grace from design sponge for showing us the newly posted photos of Chloe's house here.

sweet tweet

Zid Zid seems to always come up with clever little goodies. These birds are very fun and I enjoy the vintage fabric they use and the detailed stitching. I think the owl is staring at you through the screen. whooo-ooo-ooo...

100 degrees out - time for coats?

This coat is very sexy for fall - from Anthropologie's new catalog. Well, at least it looks good on her, when you see it in person tell me what you think.

Iconic

As a gift, I received Havana style which is part of the icon series by Taschen. I really dig this series of books and I haven't been disappointed from the ones I have seen in person yet. (Now, everyone knows what to buy me as a present.)

i fancy photography

Anne Menke is a brilliant photographer, well-known around the globe. I'm pretty sure you have seen her gorgeous shots in one magazine or another. Her photographs, just down right inspire me, having a certain style and essence that I crave. It was challenging for me to edit it down to my favorites, so here are a few. Check out her website for more goodness.

Fini

Balsamic vinegar delight in a pretty package. Anyone tried this kind?

Susy Jack

Over at Bloesem, I came across these little lovelies by Susy Jack. I want to buy one for my sketch/notebook collection. They are more colorful and fun than my stark black moleskin that I pack around with me everywhere.

Happy Monday.

Hope that everyone had a great weekend maxing and relaxing. I adore this clipping and want to go take a nap in Tuscany.

shoppin' around

Did some shopping this weekend, and I can't believe it is almost fall!! Here are some new looks I like from jcrew. I would wear all of these outfits.

vintage garden style

There is a lot of joyful buzz surrounding Lena Corwin's wedding shots in the Spring 06 MS Weddings magazine and well, I enjoy them too! I thought that a few of these ideas would be specifically relevant to my cousin's wedding inspiration file because her garden setting looks so similar to this.

The pacific northwest backyard is full of lots of green like this one.

This looks like Abe (her bro) playing his jams!

They took polaroids of the guests in front of these vintage patterned panels.
That could be lucy!(her dog)

Vintage treats + I love the serving table!

polka-dot craze

I have a special thing for envelopes lined with patterns, and since I do like polka-dots, I think a few of these are especially delightful. from MS

not that purple barney

Toys, toys, and more toys. My little one has a very inquisitive mind, and always wants to play with something, thought these were some beautiful gourmet toys from Barneys.

girl

Here is our little babe at a whopping 9 months old. Her personality just gets better and better each day. We love her crawling giggles!

quilt of circles

This vintage quilt that I saw at my mom's friends house is very happenin'. Perhaps I may have told you before, but I know very little about the crafty world of sewing. As of late, I am very intrigued by this industrious medium. Craftistas out there...is this difficult to make, very time consuming, and beyond a beginner's grasp?

Where did she go?

It has been a few years now that when I type in the web address: www.jennifersterling.com up comes what I think is a cruel joke. Ahh...what happened? Where is the graphic designer that I really fancy? and that awesome website in all of its glory? Well, for a long time I thought the worst had happened, and I was saddened. It wasn't until recently, that I read she has gone off the grid into a more meaningful pursuit of teaching. I guess it does make sense though, when I heard her lecture, I observed that she is not only a fabulous designer, but also a conscientious and caring person. Happy you are still alive Jennifer Sterling!

Smoochy Woochy

These are the cutest magnetic kissing dolls I've ever seen. Can I say, Yodel-lay-he-hoo. Found them at Plasitca.

Petaline

I was delighted to receive an email from shop owner Alison B. about her online boutique called Petaline. Clever little shops that support independent artists such as this one, enliven me. They carry all kinds of goods from artwork to handbags by designers and artists in the northwest (oh, I do miss that area). They sell these vibrant paintings by Flora Bowley which sure brightened up my day. Thanks Alison.

encaustic love

While walking through a local art gallery, I fell head over heels for these works of art by contemporary artist Tom Brydelsky. They are a stunning example of the encaustic meduim. Does anyone know how to hot wax paint? It looks so cool.

Meow... meow

Cat Power aka Chan Marshall is the greatest, like her latest album entitled that. She has a sultry, unique sexy voice and is definitely a quintessential rock star! She has numerous albums out on the scene, and speaking of cover songs from the last post, the album "You are Free" has some good ones on it.

Moody soul

I hope that you have heard the great music of Madeleine Peyroux. Her music is rich, brilliant and full of soul. Jazzy french music at its finest. She is covering one of my favorite Elliot Smith songs in this video. Although I am a little picky about cover songs, this one works in conjunction with the video, definitely more moody that way.

Music + Art

I went to a great art gallery in Park City yesterday, and while I was there, they were playing this song by Laura Veirs. It has been a while since I have checked her jams out, but 'Galaxies' is one of my many favorites. Her voice is so rocking, and I enjoy how she has honest lyrics, great artistic sensibilities, and how she uses her glasses as one of her personal trademarks. Her music is great to listen to while driving on a road trip, cooking in the kitchen, and as I found out, looking at great artwork. (Each week as I have been showcasing about 3 artists - this week I felt like it should be an all chick week! All of the females this week are excellent singer/song writers. )

Pick out your very own olive tree!

Nudo has great design backing them up, in fact, their packaging design is some of the finest I've seen around lately. I would love to have a tin of their beautiful olive oil and soaps too. What I especially like about this company is, you can adopt your own olive tree and enjoy what it produces each year. (perhaps a little more fruitful than that adopt a star program). How cool would it be to say, yah Patty, that olive oil you are dipping your bread in, is from my olive tree nestled in the hills of Italy. (via brown turtleneck sweater)

hotel love

I adore the Hip Hotels book series, and while perusing "Hip Hotels : Beach" I came across these and wanted to share the love. While looking at all of the luscious hotels, it got me daydreaming for another ultimate foreign beach vacation. (sigh...) These crisp and cool white/blue images are from 'The Beach House' in Spain. My husband lived in Spain for a while, and someday when he takes me back to visit, I want to stay here. Isn't it beautiful? If you want more, (although it is very easy to get lost in your own bliss) check out hip hotel's lovely hypnotizing website.

These shots are from the perivolas in Santorini. I would be in heaven, going to the Greek Isles and staying in this luxurious hotel. Nai, Nai!! I just love the white walls and the ambiance. Unfortunately, well at least this year, I think that the closest I will be getting to Greece is watching My big fat greek wedding or Il Postino.

Pop up party

I hope that you have seen these awesome pop-up books in person. I love the way that they are artistic and sophisticated for adults, yet also incredible for kids, (well, a little bit older kids). They are designed by David Carter and you can find them here on sale. He is also coming out with a new popup book called 600 black spots in September - should be smashing!
